Seyni Da

PhD candidate in Economics

I am a 6th year PhD Candidate of Economics at American University, Washington DC. I am a macroeconomist with research areas in Development Economics, International Finance, and Capital Markets Modeling and analysis. My dissertation research investigates the role of political risk insurance and foreign exchange derivatives as de-risking solutions used by multinational corporations to hedge against political uncertainty and foreign exchange rate exposure. It also assesses the role of absorptive capacity in enabling foreign direct investments to promote economic growth.

In addition to my research experience, I worked extensively in government and research institutions, conducting macroeconomic analysis, designing and implementing policy proposals aimed at enhancing economic growth and alleviating poverty.

I am on the 2025-2026 job market, and available for interviews. You may find my CV and job market paper.
